Abstract

This study was done to understand the degree of quality of life and perceived family support, and to identify the relationship between quality of life and perceived family support in dialysis patients.
The subjects were consisted of 140 patients who had been treated by dialysis at the 6 dialysis units of 6 hospitals located in Kwangju and Chunju cities.
Data were gathered from July 8 to October 27, 1992 through interviews by questionnaire. Analysis of data were done by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson Correlation.
The results were summarized as follows :
1. The mean score of perceived family support was 48. 5 of total 64 points.
2 In general characteristics, influencing factors to the perceived family support were age(F=6.87, p(.001), religion(F=245, p<.OD, marital status (F=8.55, p<.001), monthly income(F=3.96, p<. 05), present occupation (F=3.48, p<.05), using erythropoietin(F=3.48, p<.01), and supportive re-source person(F=7.02, p<.001).
3. The mean score of the quality of life was 1.34.2 of total 220 points.
4. In general characteristics,influencing factor to the quality of life was only the present occupation(t=2.70, p<.01).
5. The relationship between perceived family sup-port and quality of life showed a positive correlation(r=.3486, p<.001). The higher family sup-port they perceived. the higher quality of life they had.
